Where: Muskingum University, New Concord, Ohio
When: April 10th, 17th, 24th, May 1st, and May 15th
Who: 8th-12th graders interested in computers and computer games
Cost: $25
Contestants will spend three weeks designing and writing a computer game. No previous computer programming experience is needed, although you should be interested in computers and computer games. The more energy you bring to this, the better your chances of completing your game by the deadline of May 8th. The awards ceremony on May 15th will recognize all the participants and present awards for the top games.
Any 8th through 12th grader willing to travel to Muskingum University is eligible. We do have a limited number of spots available, so register early!
Here’s what we’ll cover in the Saturday sessions, which will be held from 9am to noon at Muskingum University
April 10th: What makes a good game, and a first game using Game Maker
April 17th: More about Game Maker, and level design
April 24th: Multiple players, cooperative & competitive games
May 1st: Question and answer session. Bring your game in and get immediate help with the bits that are giving you trouble.
Assistance and coaching will be available through email outside of the Saturday sessions.
